Communal Hostel
Hostels provide budget-oriented, sociable accommodations where guests usually live in a dormitory style sleeping arrangements and sometimes offer meals.
The hostel in this case is designed to create a safe welcoming environment that accomodates people at a rate they can afford. The design focuses on the core theme of “community”. The hostel consists of spaces that allow people to interact and mingle while visiting the Mesa Trail just South of Boulder, CO.
The form originates around a piece of abstract art that replicates the rolling hills in the Mesa Trail Area. An extensive site analysis process was used to angle, locate, and shape the hostel to create a fully comprehensive design.
